Clonmel grieved last week like never before with the sudden and horrific loss of four young lives to a tragic accident. Luke and Grace McSweeney, Nicole Murphy and Zoe Coffey were four young adults with their lives ahead of them before being so cruelly taken from their family and friends. We offer our sincere condolences to the Murphy, Coffey and McSweeney families.

Luke and Grace were linked to our club with Luke being a former juvenile player, their brother David is a current player and Mark, also a sibling is current sponsor of our U17 jerseys.

At all of David's games, Grace would be the main scorekeeper for all in her surrounds as the usual hustle and bustle of play would call for calm which Grace would provide to all and sundry. If voices became raised on sidelines, Luke was always on hand to help soothe tensions with his huge frame providing cover for the rest of us. Davids elevation to Tipperary academy squads was a huge source of pride for Grace and Luke along with Paul, Brigid and Mark.

The strength and courage shown by the McSweeney family this last week has been humbling and inspiring in equal measure. Their first thought has always been about everyone else's welfare typifying the values that were so strong in Luke and Grace. A family of love and generosity and they have asked to pass on their thanks everyone in the club for the support, help and messages received during this horrific time.

Brigid's tribute to Luke and Grace at the altar finished with hope.

“Leave your sorrow behind here today, and make the world a better place.”
