St.Mary's 2-13 Carrick Swan 1-06

Our lads overcame a valiant Carrick Swan side in a keenly contested South Final. these teams had played each other twice already with varying results so this game was set up to be a great encounter.

St. Mary's started the game really well aided by a strong breeze stroking over 3 points from play. However the Swan rallied and claimed a good goal to level matters after 15 mins. Subsequently, both sides traded points before a fortuitous ball in from James Power slipped from the Swan keepers clutches to extend our halftime lead to 4 points at the midway point.

Upon the resumption, fears of a Swan onslaught were foremost amongst Mary's followers but the players on the field had other ideas. The blue and white kids stormed into the game with Tadgh Sheehan, James Power and Thomas Charles to the fore.

The game was put to bed via a wonder strike from Charles and further points from Niall Deely, Alex Creed and Sheehan saw the team home.
