“The one thing I need to leave behind is good memories.” – Michael Landon
The visit to our club and indeed town by our friends from Rockland Gaa in New York proved to be a resounding success for all in attendance over a brilliant weekend just passed.
Our visitors arrived into town on Friday night and gathered on Saturday morning in the Town Hall to be welcomed by Mayor, Michael Murphy who welcomed home a native son of Clonmel, Tommy Fogarty, the man behind Rocklands trip to our club.

After the town hall, the wider Rockland party bedecked the fantastic Plaza in the town before marching as one towards the Sportsfield through the streets of the town chanting and singing along the way.
On Saturday, a day of Gaelic football with our sister club ensured a super days activity enjoyed by all before decamping to hotel Minella for a bbq, kids entertainment and music for all ages.
Despite a few tired limps on Sunday morning, we reconvened to the Sportsfield once more for a days hurling action, which, again, proved to be a marvellous event.
The whole weekend could not of taken place without the massive input from our club members, from catering, officiating, stewarding and much more. Special mention to Barbara Doran, Rachel Cagney, Gerry Lawless, Eimear Cooney for their efforts along with Carol Creighton in the council for facilitating the Mayors reception and march.
This trip could not have happened without the foresight and drive of Tommy Fogarty. A proud Abbey road, Clonmel and Tipperary man, Tommy pulled the entire Clonmel trip together and deserves huge credit for giving everyone a great weekend.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the brilliant Rockland crew who displayed all thats great about our games and culture, both on and off the field. Your kids were a credit to you all and their skill levels as good as any from the "homeland. We look forward to meeting you all again, in the not too distant future.
