Health & Wellbeing

Community & Health - Pobal agus Sláinte

Health and Wellbeing is a hot topic in Irish society at present. The GAA has been to the forefront of rolling out initiatives to help combat issues like obesity and mental health.

Here in St. Marys our aim is to build up awareness around these issues and organise events that will highlight and help tackle problems head on.

Toward the end of 2015, we held a presentation in association with the South Tipperary Consumer Panel on Mental Wellbeing in Sport. On the night, Brendan Cummins and sports journalist Jackie Cahill gave their insight on the sporting side of things, while former Governor of Mountjoy Prison John Lonergan brought the social viewpoint.

The clubs officer charged with overseeing this position is Adrian Johnson. Adrian has many years of experience in this field in a professional capacity and can be called upon to facilitate if needed.
