St. Mary's 1-17 Clonakenny 1-12
Our senior side faced a do or die battle against Clonakenny in R2 of the County championship in Cashel on Saturday evening. A nervy start saw us having to chase the game from the off but the gap between the sides never past 3 points despite us facing a stiff breeze.
Points from Gearoid Buckley and Séamus Kennedy pulled us level at the halftime whistle with the aforementioned wind to aid us in the second half. Immediately upon the resumption our lads took the game to Clonakenny with Jason Lonergan getting a great goal followed up with some fine scores from Gearoid Buckley, Paul Nolan and Seán Kennedy. Midway through the second half, the Opposition scored a penalty to revive their challenge but further scores from Séamus Kennedy opened the gap again.
Clonakenny were reduced to 14 men with 10 minutes to go and this proved to be a stretch to far for them and our lads saw the game home.
