What St. Mary’s means to Me
I love going training and playing matches for
St. Mary’s. I go training on Saturday mornings in the field in the summer and indoors during wintertime with the U10s.
My coaches are Kai, Donal, Philly and Jerry. They are nice coaches because they are funny and show us how to play. My friends also play and I've met some new friends which I really like.
My brothers and cousins all play with St. Mary’s and my Dad helps organise games for us to play. I love wearing my St. Mary’s gear to training and games. Hurling makes me feel good except when Ciaran Condon whacks my leg.
Last year we went to Croke park on a bus. Tipp were playing Wexford in All Ireland Semi Final and Seamus Kennedy was brilliant. The bus trip was really fun. We all were singing on the bus.
On the way there the U16s were played a match against Kilmacud Crokes and they won, my brother Dean scored some point. Tipp beat Wexford and Andy Griffin was sad.
I love playing matches and blitzs because I get to play against different teams in Tipp and in different Counties. My favourite match was the Final of Aaron Ryan tournament. I scored a hat trick in it.
I have learned a lot of things with St.Mary’s like how to hold the hurley, how to nick up the sliotar.
Being part of St. Mary’s means a lot to me because I’ve been with the club for a while. Playing with friends makes me comfortable and safe.
I’ve been trying to keep fit and healthy during the Covid 19 Pandemic by playing hurling with my brothers to keep my skill levels up and have started doing Joe Wicks body coach and doing running the All-Star Challenge.
Most of all I can’t wait to get back training with my friends and to put on the St.Mary's jersey back on, hopefully in the Frank Maher tournament.
