Why is it important to play with our children?
Play is fun for the kids, but above that, it lends a way for them to express themselves and learn new skills. It is important for you, the parents, to play with your children. Many parents think that playing with their kids has to be elaborate and they put it off because of this (studies show). The truth is, playing with your children can be as easy or as involved as you want it to be.
When you play with your child, you are showing them that you care. On top of that, playing helps you bond with your child. It will help your relationship grow. You are showing them that they are important to you. Playing with your child builds positive self-esteem in your child.
Hurling is a game which needs constant honing by participants with the multiple skill elements associated.
In match programmes at inter-county games, player profile interviews attract the eye of our young and not so young members. Inevitably. the player in question espouses the virtue of first touch, striking off both sides and high fielding to the often asked question of what skill is the most important?
In our view, all of the skills are important and to get to a level of competency, a regular sequence of training and games is a prerequisite. Added, to this, parents are and need to be encouraged to get their child out practicing at home for 10/15 mins each day.
We ask, that all our members, supporters, parents and mentors continue to work with us in our aim to enable our players achieve their potential.
