Toomevara came to town on Sunday in the Sportsfield for a novel County Quarter Final clash with our U17 side.
A torrential downpour twenty minutes before throw-in made soft underfoot conditions even more cumbersome for both sides but nonetheless, the teams served up an excellent display of hurling for the large and appreciative attendance.
Mary's played against the breeze in the first half toward the Cantwell Street end and made hay coming in at the break 2-06 to 0-09 to the good. Upon the resumption, Toome came at the lads hard and looked to be making serious inroads but a stout defence held out the North men.
After the second water break the Mary's men pushed on with some powerful performances and with the sound of Paddy Russells whistle, the scoreboard displayed St. Mary's 2-14 Toomevara 0-11.
We now await the winners of Holycross v Cashel for a chance to enter into a County Final.
Well done to the entire panel and mentors on a great win and also huge thanks to everyone who came to the Sportsfield to make it a fantastic occaision.
